Good evening everyone.
The birds had a 55 mile toss today with a light tailwind and the first birds arriving in 58 minute. All birds flew on today's toss JULY 29th so you can check the inventory list for all the birds still in competition. There were 2 birds kept back from today's toss because of injuries. We are now ready for the 150 mile toss as the birds are full of energy. The excitement is really starting to build as we are getting closer to race day. We will let you know when we are going to train from the 200 mile mark, so those who are interested can drop by to watch the arrival of the birds. Good luck to all we prepare for the largest pay out race in Canada!!!

Hello every one.
We have now reached the 100 mile training toss. The birds were released at 9 AM July 27 th from 105 mile (165KM ) mark at Point Au Baril, Ontario. The first birds clocked at 11:03 Am and flew over 50 miles an hour into a light headwind which is a fantastic speed. I arrived a few minutes before the birds and was able to watch some fantastic trapping. Tomorrow the birds will rest. We are well ahead with are training, but we will continue to train hard. We are going to make sure that the birds at the Canadian International One loft race have all the training that is required to give everyone's birds the condition it takes to fly a 350 mile race regardless of type of wind that faces the birds on race day. The overall health and condition of the birds is fantastic and many of them are starting to show signs of form. This is where we will be careful to control and keep the form from not reaching super form until the week of the big race, it is a fine line but there are many things you can do with feeding different seeds and grains and the amounts that can do a lot to the condition of pigeons. We will be posting some local motel and hotel addresses soon so any out of town guests can make arrangements if they are coming to the race.

Good afternoon,
We are less than 5 weeks away from race day. The birds have been tosses at 80 miles 3 times now. All birds now have been at 80 mile mark and you can check the inventory list to see which birds are still in competition. remember that certain birds that have been lost can show up later on future inventory training lists. We will continue to train hard so it will take super birds to completed our training program and make it to the final race. Our next toss will be 100 miles so we are well ahead of schedule. The birds were released at 8:50 AM Today and arrived at 10 :22. The first 11 birds on today's training list were not on today's toss as they arrived late from yesterdays toss.

Hello everyone,
The birds have had 5 training tosses of 40 miles, one 60 mile toss and today we trained from 80 miles with no wind and the birds flew it in 1 hour 30 minutes which is very good. They now are starting to really understand the game and are starting to really race home. We kept back about 50 birds that were not ready due to injuries or fatigue. We have posted a training list. It's unfortunate that not all birds have made it to this point due to losses from around the loft, losses in the hard 20 mile training toss and also from illness. We really don't want to see anyone lose before they get a chance, so any team entered this year that does not have a single bird make the final race will have a complete free entry next year including a complete free perch fee! We will continue to make improvements to make this race grow every year as our main goal of the Canadian International One Loft Race is to have a race that everyone is happy with and we will always consider the ideas of participants as they have created this Race. Thanks again for the many good wishes from so many of the participants.

Good Evening everyone.
As of July 18th the birds have had 3 tosses at 40 miles. We have posted the training list for the birds that were trained today. There are about 100 birds that were not trained today and were rested because they are injured or arrived late on past training tosses. This year we have had several very difficult tosses with many birds having a very tough time making it back to the loft while the majority of the birds arrive together. We will continue to train every good day and work all the other tired or injured birds slowly back to condition. There is no figuring out why birds will split up and scatter in all day long on some tosses and then on their next few tosses they arrive together early as one group.I have experienced this with my own YBS in the past but after the 50 mile mark they continue on to complete the race program with very few losses. The birds at The Canadian International One Loft Race will be fully trained with plenty of long tosses and in the end the best and smartest birds will be the birds that win. Every bird that completes our training program will have the experience and condition to win and be a big prize winner in the most prestige Yb One Loft race in Canada. Good luck to all and may your bird be the one to be crowned the 2010 Canadian International One Loft CHAMPION!

Good Morning,
Today we reach the 40 mile mark, The birds were released at 7:55 and flew into a bit of a head wind with a few birds arriving a few minutes ahead of the bunch. Please note there were birds kept back at the loft that were late coming from the previous tosses. We will be training 40 miles for the next 3 days before we move the birds out further. Please check the inventory for the birds that trained today.

Good morning everyone.
The birds have had now, 4 tosses at 10 miles and 2 tosses at 20 miles. All birds are now on the training list. The first 13 birds on the training list were not on the training flight,as are injured or recovering from stress, Please remember that birds that might be out lost from previous tosses will not show on the list but can show up later on future training lists. The first toss at 20 miles you can see on the training list was very difficult. The birds were released at 7:45 and they were over 2 hours coming home and many birds arrived constantly through out the day and the next day.The condition of the birds remains very good after being so many hours on the wing. This is something I watch closely after birds are over 2 hours on the wing. All the birds that arrived late were rested and did not train from today's 20 mile toss. The birds that trained today from the 20 mile toss flew home very well arriving before me.We have been having extremely hot, humid weather again and early morning training is a must.
We also have received the results from Guelph University Veterinarian. They have confirmed circo virus had infected 5 of the birds we had removed from the loft. The overall health of the birds is great and they are in very good condition. Their wattles remain very white, there eyes are dry and clear and their throats a very nice light pink color. The open window design of our lofts is a super bonus for the birds during these hot, humid days and nights. Remember even with your own birds that their respiratory system must be in perfect working order for super condition. Birds are so sensitive to any type of disturbance in their breathing and this can make the difference between 1ST and 2ND on race day! Any way we will continue to train the birds hard and steady. We will post a training list this weekend when we reach the 40 mile mark.

Hello every one,
We now have had the birds 3 times at the 10 mile mark since the weather cooled down. We will continue to train every day and sometimes twice a day at these shorter tosses. We want to give the birds as many short tosses as possible before we stretch them out. We believe that this is the best way to educate the ybs, We have the latest inventory list out from July 11th. We have been training on the east side of Lake Simcoe and now we will move them on the west side of the lake as we move further out. The first 3 birds on today's inventory list were not on that training toss, along with some other birds which are hurt and recovering from their injuries. Overall the birds continue to look very good and we are confident the birds that are here will be able to survive the rest of our hard training program. We now have started the birds on the Vita King 1-2-3 system. We will continue using these products for the next 7 weeks. It's hard to believe we are only 7 weeks away from the race. We will post the next training list in a few days and we will continue to update you on the birds training progress with training lists as I know people like to see how their birds are coming. We apologies for the delay as there was some time getting our clocking system perfected. We will write again soon.

Good Afternoon everyone,
We continue to train the birds from 3 mile tosses. The reason being not only is this giving them the experience, it also has been extremely hot reaching into the mid 30 to 40 degrees, which feels over 40 with the humidity. You must be extremely careful when first starting to train your YBS in this heat and you should be training early in the morning. Reason being if the ybs make a mistake it will not take long for them to dehydrate, causing confusion, making it difficult for them to orient home before dark. The birds are trapping so fast that the electronic traps can not clock them all as they jump over each other hurrying to get in. The other day there were over 350 birds clocked in the first minute and that was using only 12 holes. We are attending to this problem. We are putting out the training list from July 6th but not all birds are showing on the list because many were jumping over each other with great speed to get in the loft. We therefore will put out another training list shortly so we can get all the birds on the list.

Hello everyone,
It has been awhile since our last diary entry. We have been busy starting the training. The birds have had 6 training tosses from 1 mile and a 3 mile point. They are rocketing in through the trap and are beating me home. We will be posting a training list so all can see which birds are in training. There are still some birds that are too stressed to start training and some that are injured. We have had some losses in training, while the other birds are doing fine. We also had some birds taken to Guelph University to be checked by the veterinarian as we suspect some birds were sent in with Circovirus and Herpesvirus and the vet explained that there is nothing you can really do to treat a virus . We are spending the time and money to continuously have the loft checked by the best veterinarians available in Ontario. We will have more information on the vet report in the near future. The rest of the birds in training have very nice white wattles, clear eyes and super muscle condition and their respiratory system is in great condition. Their droppings are perfect and there is a lot of feather and down feather being dropped which is an excellent sign of health and condition. We are committed to continually keep everyone informed on all news, be it good or bad. A super immune system is so important when it comes to one loft racing and we believe in the end the best, strongest and most intelligent birds will be the ones to handle our hard training program as it will be survival of fittest.

Hello everyone,
Hope all is well. We picked up our training trailer today from the welders. It is 17 ft long x 7 ft wide. It has 3 levels with easy loading through the back. It can be divided into 12 compartments that can hold up to 100 birds each. The birds have finished a respiratory treatment just to clear up anything as we plan to start training next week. The birds will be first settled for 2 to 3 hours a few times in the trailer and them released in the back yard, This will teach them to be calm in the trailer before we start our series of short tosses. we now have cut back on the feed and are starting to speed trap the birds as they must now be brain washed to hit the board from the air with no hesitation and fire in to the loft as if they had the devil on their tail. Once birds learn that, they never forget but this must be repeated constantly many times per day for several days. Remember that YBS are like robots and you can program them to do almost anything!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010
Good morning everyone,
Hope all is good. The birds now have been allowed all together as one group. there is still one section with birds that are still under stress. Some have been removed and we are sure there will be more as not all birds have the natural immune system that it takes to survive, especially when being mixed with birds from over 200 different lofts. This is the honest reality of one loft racing regardless of what anyone tells you. Now a days we have to combat so much more because of the over use and improper use of medications by many fanciers as pigeons develop super bacteria bugs and viruses. On the other hand the majority of the birds are very strong and there is some super high quality specimens. There are some groups that break off and fly on there own so high that they look like high flyers. We find it so interesting that with so many birds in the sky they choose to break off in different groups. We are going to get an inventory list out shortly and we will write again shortly. We will also have a party on some of the longer training races as many fanciers will like to come over and watch the arrival of the birds. Talk to you soon.

Hi everyone
Hope you enjoy the next video as we try to explain some more detail about the CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL ONE LOFT RACE. We now have around birds 1100 birds and our final day for accepting birds was May 30th. We are sorry to have to turn away entries after that day but we must follow the rules to keep it the same for everyone. This also allows us time to finish our complete medication treatment plan for all birds before road training starts. Thanks again to every one who has supported this race and I am sure many more people will be part of this race next year as we are planning to make some incredible changes and improvements to the race. We will post any new news shortly.
It has been super busy here at the CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL ONE LOFT RACE! We have 1100 birds entered and everyone has been calling to say that's fantastic! Sorry for not having the time to speak to everyone but we must concentrate on working with the birds. I have enjoyed pigeon racing very much in the past but this has been even more of an adrenalin rush than I could of ever have expected and I love it!! I am truly proud of having the pleasure of running a race of this type and size. I am especially thankful of everyone who has come in. I believe this is the great boost our sport needs that will get more people involved and bring a very fair competion and chance to every one who may live off the line of flight or perhaps does not have the time for their birds. This will be the greatest gathering of pigeon fanciers our sport has ever seen in Canada! I think that's great and I hope you think so too! Remember that positive thinking and attitude from all of us makes no dream impossible!!

Hello everyone
The 1st and 2nd group of birds are out and some are flying close to an hour and kitting well. The third group is now out and learning the game. The older ones are starting to drop down feathers pretty good and that puts them out of stressful period. We now have close to 1000 birds in the loft and still going strong! Its incredible the way the older YBS at the end sections of the loft rocket the the hallway when it is opened for loft flying, they really know the system well and it is working super! We have about 300 more birds to come from the reservation list and we still have space for more birds as THE CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL ONE LOFT is very roomy being 325 feet long from end to end!
We would like to thank everyone who believed and supported the race. There is no limited to what we can do if we all come together. I believe that we should all be proud of being true sportsmen and showing the world that CANADA now has a World class race and we invite the world to join us!!!

Hello everyone,
As of Saturday night May 8th we have over 800 birds in the loft including some birds from top lofts from the USA. The competition with so many top birds will be very exciting and prestige. We will be updating the participants list shortly. It has been very stormy, windy and raining so the birds have remained in the loft. Please remember to call ahead if you are sending birds by air or are planning to come during the week. Also remember that all birds will be shot for PMV when arriving and the electronic bands are placed on all birds as they arrive. Please remember that no birds will be allowed entry after May 30th so plan on getting them here before that date. We are now expecting around 400 people here on race day, so we have spoken to our friends who own the farms next to us and across the street from us and they will give us plenty of parking It will be a great party and gathering of pigeon fanciers with some fantastic food and fun!!! as we wait to see who the top breeders will be and the big money winners!!!!! If anyone is looking to enter another fantastic big money race the International Flamingo Challenge is a super race down in sunny Brooksville Florida in December. We have entered it several times and have always had a GREAT TIME WITH GREAT FOOD AND ALL YOU CAN DRINK.THE PEOPLE RUNNING THE RACE ARE GREAT PEOPLE and you will surely have a great time, along with all the other great races happening in Florida at that time of the year. You can also enter the GULF COAST CLASSIC another great professional operated race.

Hello everyone,
I hope you enjoyed the video. We will do more videos as time goes on. This coming Friday May 7th I will be going to Sarnia Ontario so if there is anyone who would Like to send birds to the CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL ONE LOFT RACE and wants to meet me along the HWY 402 or in London Ontario or anywhere along the HWY 401 up to Toronto just give me a call and leave your name and number and i will call you to make arrangements. Today the winds were quite strong so all birds stayed in the loft. Yesterday about 200 birds of the first group flew high like peas in the sky for 30 minutes. The trapping is fantastic and the birds have no fear of me and thats the same way I kept my own YBS when i was flying.
Friday we are having a good group of birds arriving from the USA
Once agian i would like to remind every one that NO birds from my own loft will be entered in the race and NO birds sold from my loft will be entered in the race.
My Partner Mike Ganus in the USA will also have NO birds entered in the
Canadian International One Loft Race.
We want everyone to know that this is a professionally runned race as this race is representing Canada and it is my greatest plesure and mission to see our race grow bigger and better every year so the whole world can get involved and some day soon have birds from every part of the world sent right here to Canada!!!

Hello Everyone,
The first and second group of birds are already out and trapping fantastic. This weekend we continued to recieve birds and there is around 700 birds in the loft already. We continue to recieve new teams of brand new names and we will continue to recieve birds until May 30 th. This is in the rules and There will be no more birds accepted after that day. This is an important rule so all birds will be ready of age when training begins. The lofts are roped off and no one is allowed to even get close to the lofts. Many fanciers would like to see inside of the loft but also there are many more that like and understand the ideas that no one can have any contact with any birds, not only to protect the birds from spread of any disease but also for total security reasons. You must understand that everyone is expecting the best for their birds and we at the Canadian International One Loft Race are making sure that all runs perfect as we plan to continue to make this race the biggest and best ever. Rules are in place for a reason and we will keep all rules strictly enforced. We are working hard to make sure our race is a lasting success and that everyone in the race is happy and satisfied because after all this is not my race it is everyones race and thats the way we believe it should be! Please continue to share your ideas with us so we can share them with all.
Thanks

Hello everyone,
Hope all is well. We have over 600 birds entered in the first 2 weeks. We are getting ready to post the new list of entries band numbers, there is 126 teams already in. The first group of birds are trapping fantastic and we are getting ready to release the 2nd group any day now. Today was much to windy for releasing Young birds so we kept them in. Even though we are very opened here surrounded by hundreds of acres of open farm land, the birds can still seem to hit themselves on windy days and get hurt so we are trying to prevent any unnecessary injuries, Many new teams are coming in and we have spoken to several more fanciers that will be entering the race. Overall health is looking good as we continue on our preventative medication plan also due to having the loft with 15 sections helps us tremendously in keeping different age groups and arrival groups on different feeding and medication, vitamin program. The real hard work starts when we have to fly the different groups separately until they are all flying good. These are some of the very important details we are keep a close eye on. Talk to you all soon!!

Hi All
It has been nice meeting so many new faces in the pigeon game, Its nice to hear the excitement in so many people that have delivered birds. We now have close to 600 hundred birds already and that's fantastic news in just 2 weeks of starting to receive birds. So far the birds are doing good and there are four different groups separated from each other to keep the birds healthy. This is alot more work but must be done to insure good health in all birds coming in. We welcome any ones ideas and suggestions that can make our race better and better every year, after all it was all of us and every ones ideas that has made this race into the biggest one loft race ever in Canadian History. Right now we are about the biggest one loft race in North America and so many fanciers across the world are also watching our race as we grow ever so big! I believe we can all be proud of coming together and being true sportsmen in creating something ever so special for our sport right here in Canada. Perhaps this is the kind of event our sport needs to get not only attention but respect from so many other people who don't understand our hobby. We will keep you constantly updated and we hope to always be able to have the time to speak to every one in the sport , be it the long time fanciers or a brand new beginner. The Canadian International One Loft Race is proud and happy to share our views with all and we hope in making a difference in our sport for the future!!!!

Hi everyone,
We now have over 400 birds in the loft. All birds in are already on the particapants list. The first team of ybs have been out twice already and are trapping fine. They are very tame and i had them eating off my hand right on the landing board the very first day out. This is the special bond between man and the birds that creates motivation for the loft. You can rest assure you will see first hand super trapping on race day! The whole country is now focusing on The Canadian International One Loft Race and we are going to do our best to pull off a world class event as every person expects us to do! We will keep postings birds arriving as best we can as i am sure many people are also interest to see them posted. This weekend will be busy agian,so there is little time to chit chat with so many of the people as they deliver their birds, so we will keep you all informed on our diary as often as we can.

Hi Everyone,
Hope all is good. We have started to receive birds this past monday at the airport from every corner of our country and that's fantastic to have them from every point. The first group of birds that have arrived this weekend are doing fine. They are working their way in and out of the settling cage nicely. Its incredible how they work their way into their own section so well already. They are looking like a fine bunch of healthy youngsters. We are planning to release the first group 2 weeks after they arrive. I myself use to release my youngsters when i was racing, many times at 3 months of age and rarely lost any around the loft. They seem to develop their homing instinct with age and they know exactly where they are. All groups of different arrival times will be worked individually as group so they will all have the same fair work and loft flying as every other group until they are all working fine. then we will loft fly all birds together, When training starts they will only be released in small groups until we get out further. This is alot more work but we at The Canadian International One Loft Race are going to make sure the birds have the best possible care as there is possible. Once again we are going to be busy receiving birds this weekend but if you need special arrangements just send us an email or feel free to call us at 905-478-1511 and we will do our best to help you! See you all soon.

Hello everyone,
hope all is well with you all! The Canadian International One Loft Race has been extremely busy this weekend as we have received close to 200 hundred birds in our first weekend! This coming weekend and the next one will also be very busy as we will be receiving many more birds. So far all looks great and we are on way to making this the greatest pigeon event and race in Canadian History! If you wish to bring your birds during the week please send us an email or give us a call as we are always happy to make arrangements for anyone and we love to talk to anyone who needs to ask us anything or has any questions. We strongly believe that communication on a personal level is important and that is what people deserve to have if they so desire, This we believe is what has made this race the biggest and best ever in Canada! All birds will receive the best of care and the best of the Vita King Products as we have spared no expense in having what we know are some of the best products available today. These are the same medication and vitamin products that have brought us so much success in the last ten years! We wish we had more time to spend talking to everyone this weekend but there just was not enough time. We are so proud of every one who has become part of this race and has helped turn it into the best race ever! We all made it happen with a positive attitude and we know this is the spirit that we all have and need. Talk to you all soon! we will keep steady information coming. Tony Alves

Hi Everyone,

Hope all is going well with your breeding. It has been very mild with plenty of rain this weekend. The loft construction is coming well as our carpenters continue on plenty of detailing. The loft is 325 feet long . Built with 14 avaries every 16 ft. This allows for separation of different age groups as the birds arrive. The fronts of the lofts have huge windows for maximum air and sunlight as this is so important for super health. We believe many lofts experience health problems due to insufficient air exposure and this was of up most importance when we designed the loft for the Canadian International One Loft race. The loft was alot more extensive and expensive designing it this way, but we spared no expenses as we wanted to construct the best possible loft for this International event. We will post pictures of the exterior and the interior of the loft when it is near completion and when it is finally completed, which should be done in a week or so. We will follow with more information shortly.

Hi everyone, hope all is well with your breeding, most people have probably mated up their birds now as valentines day is finally here. I will be back home tonight if anyone has been trying to phone me. I am down in the Bahamas for my youngest brother's wedding. We did some fantastic deep sea fishing and caught some incredible fish from yellow tail snapper, red snapper, wahoo, mahaui, barracuda, bone fish and fish we have never seen before! Anyways I am sure it is alot colder back home. The loft construction will continue this week and should be completed with in the next few weeks. We now have 1000 birds entries and we will take up to 1400 birds.

Breeding season is here and most fanciers have now mated their birds or will be mating their birds within the next week. WE believe these youngsters bred now and weaned in April will be in the best part of the moult and just finishing their covering feathers since the birds will be on natural light. Another thing we have found is that many times super youngsters are bred out of yearling hens. Prehaps this is natures way of selection and have younger birds with more vitality continue the gene pool. Anyways there are many different opinions and these are just some of my observations. Good Luck to everyone in their breeding as you prepare to breed the winner of the Canadian International One Loft Race 2010.

Hello Everyone we have now 800 birds reserved for The Canadian International One Loft Race!!! What a fantastic turn out! In just 8 weeks! With the incredible interest shown from so many fanciers, we now are planning to increase the loft to be 250 ft long to accommodate up to 1400 birds!! This would allow us to pay $1000 prizes up to 45th position with 1000 birds entered and $500 prizes up to 145th positions with 1400 birds entered. This will also make alot more people happy winners!!!!. Many people might not be aware that I will not be flying my own birds anymore and will be concentrating only on The Canadian International One Loft Race. Also this will be my only full-time job from the time the birds arrive until the race is completed. This is important for 100% input into the race.We plan not only to make this race the biggest in Canada, we plan to make it bigger every year and keep it going for the next 20 years or more with many new interesting ideas and prizes put into place. Again I would like to remind every one that this race would not be possible without the amazing participation of everyone, as together we have made this race what it is and this race belongs to all of us!! Happy New Year from the Canadian International One Loft Race! We are now at 750 birds, and only 10 teams away from 800 birds.
The deep frost has now frozen the ground solid, and this is what we have been waiting for; to bring in our foundation trailers and building materials. The loft will be open for visitations once completed. Once we start receiving birds on April 10th 2010, no one except myself and our veterinarian will be allowed to enter the loft. This is for security and health reasons. This is a strict rule that must be followed, as this is a very professional operation. Also, there will be no birds from my partner or myself entered in the race; and no birds will be sold from my loft to anybody, with my bands or theirs, that will be allowed in the race. The birds will be tested and examined frequently by our veterinarian, Doctor Purtil, who is an experienced veterinarian in racing pigeons. I believe these are important rules that every competitor should be aware of.
We are pleased to answer anyone's questions on our diary, and post so all can read. Our popularity has grown, and I believe it is because we are offering what many people seem to want.
